MIDDLESBROUGH FC LADIES LIST OF OFFICIALS

MARRIE WIECZOREK

First team manager/coach

Joined the club in 1976 as a player, playing for 22 seasons. She is the only “original” member left with any connection to the present day club. Marrie represented her club at league, county and international level, before going on to become player-manager then non-playing manager! She has worked for MFC’s Community Programme since 1992, and is a well-known face in many of the schools around the Teesside area, both in a coaching capacity and also delivering educational sessions, as well as leading 1-day school visits to the Riverside Stadium every Monday during school terms. She has, over the years, tried to promote and progress opportunities for girls/women to be able to play football - either at school or in organised leagues – both 5-a-side and full 11-a-side. She has achieved many awards and acknowledgements through her ”love of football” , and actively tries to encourage other girls/women to follow similar paths – even more so now that there are so many opportunities with colleges both here in the UK – and also in USA – offering graduate courses/further education/coaching qualifications etc for girls to further their football careers. Marrie is also an avid BORO supporter (for over 40years), and has followed the team through all of their up’s and down’s over the years – especially their Carling Cup and European “adventures”. Her lowest points in football are whenever Boro or Boro Ladies get beaten! So obviously, the highest points are when both teams are doing well……. Main aims this season are to help steer the ladies’ team to promotion back into the FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division, and to help build up the quality and depth of squads for the future of MFC Ladies.
